Situated in the birthplace of James McNeill Whistler, the Whistler House Museum of Art displays important historical paintings from the likes of Frank W. Benson, George Loftus Noyes, and Louis Kronberg. Architecturally, the early 19th-century clapboard home is impressive, with Greek-revival cornice returns on the gable, and and L-shaped layout with three floors, 14 rooms, and a whopping 10 fireplaces. It lies in the very heart of town, a few blocks east of North Commons.
